RMHS Innovative Technology Team

RMHS Staff:

I would first like to thank you all for your patience as we have completed our first whole class 1-1 rollout of iPads. We have learned a lot, and we will work hard to make our next rollout run smoother.  That being said, the innovative technology team is now officially ready and available to help with your instructional needs.  Here are some of the ways that we will be working to meet your needs:

  1. Contact: I have set up a group email so that we can answer your questions and get you the support you need in a timely fashion. Please email your instructional technology questions to rmhs_edtech@d214.org and one of us will get back to you as soon as possible. This helps us keep track of the needs of the building so that we can better prepare for the future.

  1. Location: We are still in the process of working out a common location for our DTCs.  For now they can be found in their divisions when they are not out in classrooms working with teachers.

My office is B109. My calendar is available on our school website on the ITF page.

  1. What can I get help with?:  We are available to help with all instructional technology needs, NOT JUST iPAD help, i.e., setting up a class LMS, using drive, using forms, creating projects for your class, having a brainstorming session, the list goes on and on!

  1. Classroom visits:  The DTC’s and I are available to work with all our colleagues. The purpose of our classroom visits are to: Learn how iPads are being used similarly or differently across content areas, assess the support needed and whether the support needed is the same or different across content areas, and learn what is “working” in classrooms so that we can celebrate and share out to others.

  1. Help desk:  Tech services, B225, is available to students and staff to assist when the iPad is not working, i.e., ipad setup, apps crashing, internet not connecting, iPad glitches, apps not showing up, frozen screens, damaged iPads, etc.

  1. Parent involvement:  I am hosting a session called, “Closing the generation APP” for parents.  Currently it is limited to 60 families.  The purpose of the event is to present to parents on digital citizenship and also to give parents a chance to play on the iPads.  I will take them through the basic settings on an iPads and then have them act like student and do a lesson through schoology using notability.  I will have student tutors doing 1-1 support with the parents.  It should be a fun evening.  Based on the response, more training sessions may be offered in the future.
